The Self in Love

Some people will run into the arms of another, some will lose themselves in work, some will spend a lot of time away from home--anything to deal with the pain inside. If we don't understand ourselves, how can we expect to understand others? This is where the blame game shines the brightest: in a relationship with two people trying to understand the other instead of trying to understand themselves! Learning about ourselves--the truth, not sugar-coated fantasies--is the most important thing we can do for ourselves, for our loved ones, for humanity in general. It is also one of the hardest things to do, but we must learn these lessons if we want to make our lives the best that they can be.

In love and relationship we have a combination of two individuals with different energies. This combination leads to the formation of a third entity--the relationship itself. If we, as individuals, learn what we need and want in a partnership it will be easier to know whether or not a person is the 'one'. So many of us play the blame game in relationships. It's always the other person's fault, but is it really? It is easy to point fingers and become victims, and that's why we do it. What we need to do is take a look at ourselves and realize that things happen for a reason. When bad things happen in relationships, we must be willing to acknowledge the part we played. Our actions affect everyone around us--everyone. Perhaps we don't always see the fine lines and invisible connections, but they are there. It takes two people to make a relationship, and it takes two people to destroy one. Sometimes we make bad choices, especially in our youth when we often equate sex with love. When these bad choices start haunting us, we look elsewhere to satisfy the cravings we all have for love....continued below
