Chapter 1: The Moon
The placement of the Moon in your birth chart is very significant from a karmic perspective, as it indicates the accumulated karmic tendencies, both positive and negative, that you carry from your past incarnated experiences on earth.
While the Sun reveals your intended purposes and lessons for this present life cycle, the MOON represents what you have already done and developed, hence, what is instinctive and natural to you, and what you tend to do over and over again. Your childhood is also reflected in the Moon's placement, as it is through those childhood circumstances that any unresolved past-life issues are re-stimulated. Your subconscious predisposition is indicated by the Moon's position. It is the psychic imprint of the past. The nodes of the Moon describe behavior patterns from the past, as well as delineating a direction out of outworn or overdone behaviors and habits.
Moon in Scorpio:
In your incarnational past you developed an acute psychic sensitivity, a sort of psychic x-ray vision that enables you to read the hidden agendas and the unspoken (often unconscious) messages that other people put out. Your ability to intuit another's motives and unexpressed feelings may make some people wary or uncomfortable around you. It is as if they sense that you know more about them than they know themselves, especially about those aspects of themselves they would rather not face or have other people see. In the past, your penetrating insight into human nature, your capacity to deeply "know" a person emphatically, and your attunement to the dark or hidden under currents in a person or situation may have gained you the reputation of being a "witch". You may well have used your deeper knowledge to gain power over or manipulate people in subtle ways. Certainly you had the capacity to do so. You may also have endured much ridicule whenever you openly expressed your feelings and your awareneses. As a result, you learned to be very secretive and private and to protect yourself from prying eyes. Even today, you can be very asocial and you hide quite a bit of yourself from public view, retreating into seclusion whenever you feel threatened. At a deep level you may believe that you must hide in order to survive. Thus, allowing yourself to come out into the open, or to let people in, may be very difficult for you. Early experiences in this life, or in past lifetimes, have conditioned you to be less than trusting. Your lovers and close friends may feel you are unjustifiably fearful, even a bit paranoid. The truth is, you have experienced first-hand the nastier side of human nature. You thus tend to throw up smoke screens between yourself and those who would know you at more than a superficial level. Once you do allow someone to know you well, fears of loss, betrayal, or abandonment usually surface rapidly. Nevertheless, your capacity for and your need for deep intimacy and emotional closeness in your relationships is greater than most. You seek intensity in your relationships and can not be satisfied with "luke warm". You run hot and cold, and are prone to be compulsive or obsessed with the people or issues you care about. At your worst, you are unbearably possessive and controlling, driven by your craving for closeness and also your underlying memories of being betrayed. Jealousy may be your greatest nemesis. Secretly nursing grudges, resentment, and grievances over things that happened long ago may also be a bad habit of yours, one you will need to overcome if you are not to be poisoned by your own negativity.
It is important that you do not deny or repress such feelings, either, as that will only fuel them. However, if you can acknowledge and share them - and then let them go, you can free yourself of much old, excess "baggage". You are also prone to strong feelings of guilt, often for no known cause that you can consciously recognize. This may stem from three sources: 1)Being punished or shamed as a child for your very strong feel-ings, especially the "not-nice" ones, 2) your own instinctive awareness of the "shadowy" side of your own nature and 3) deep memories of your own misuse or misdirection of power.
At your best, you are passionate, creative, caring, deep, and wise in an instinctive way. In this lifetime you could be a particularly insightful psychologist or counselor, the one people will divulge their darkest secrets to. By confronting your own negativity and pain, and learning to release it, you are able to shed some light for others who struggle with the same.
North Node in Pisces:
In your incarnational past, you relied upon your rational, analytical, and intellectual skills. Your growth direction now is to open more to the non-rational or transcendental aspect of life, and to further your understanding through compassion, empathy, and intuition.
North Node in 5th house:
You may find your past tendencies are particularly active whenever you are involved in a group, club, organization, or in community with others. That is where you tend to behave in the old way. Your growth direction is activated when you are involved in personal self expression or your individual creative projects.
Moon Conjunct Jupiter:
Previous lifetimes of wealth, ease, and abundance translate into your present life experience as a deep subconscious belief that there is always plenty and that you will always be taken care of. You have great faith in life's essential bounty and you basically expect to have a good time. From this springs your emotional charity and generosity, but also possibly a certain laxness and improvidence which can contribute to certain problems stemming from self indulgence, a disinclination for strenuous effort, or a belief that the gods are always looking out for you so you do not have to do it yourself! You may depend solely on divine intervention or just plain good luck.
Devotion to a religious path was also a significant part of your incarnational past. Quite possibly you were a figure of considerable importance and influence, such as the abbot of a large monastery or the equivalent in whatever culture or religion this experience occurred. Thus, it feels natural for you to care for many people, to draw a large family circle around yourself, and to reach out, protect and share yourself with many people, as you have in the past.
Chapter 2: The Sun
The Sun in your birth chart represents the primary creative thrust for this lifetime, those qualities you are to develop (or further develop) and express, and your current life focus. This may be in harmony with your instincts and your emotional habits, or along completely different lines. The Sun represents your conscious identity in this lifetime.
Sun in Virgo:
In this lifetime you are at a point in your soul development that requires you to do the work of refining and purifying your own nature. Like the ancient alchemists whose goal was to take bare materials and turn them into gold, your own process of self-transformation involves taking what is crude or disordered in yourself and refining it. It is a cycle of separating the wheat from the chaff, requiring acute discrimination, rigorous self-analysis and self-criticism.
This impulse to perfect, to create order, and to focus on the flaws in order to improve and correct is the basis of much of your behavior. When you project it out into the world, it manifests as extreme fastidiousness, meticulous attention to detail, the ability to do very fine and exacting work, precision of thought and expression, and sometimes a peculiar fussiness. You can be the critic, the razor-sharp analyst, the master craftsman with a reputation for the greatest finesse and polish. You quietly observe, dissect, and measure everything against your own inner standard of perfection. Everything must be tested and go through the refiner's fire in order to prove its efficacy, Rarely do you swallow anything whole. Everything must be examined and judged, the acceptable parts ingested and the unacceptable rejected. This is true on many levels, including the physical. You are apt to be extremely discriminating about your diet, concerned with proper nutrition and the avoidance of pollutants and impurities in your food or environment, and so on. Your physical body itself may be very sensitive to what you take in - more so than other people are. On an intellectual level, you are similarly discriminating, perhaps to the point of frank skepticism. Because of your underlying need to create order, you like to categorize and put things in neat little boxes, and you may deny, avoid, invalidate, or refuse to take seriously something that does not fit in to your scheme. Even in investigating the spiritual or mystical, you seek a system, an order. Ambiguity, multiplicity, chaos or disarray of any kind may vex you considerably. You can also be very critical and demanding of other people, in a nagging, petty way. This is if you are projecting your need to refine and perfect onto the outside world. However, that is really a misuse of what is essentially an inner process, getting rid of the dross and refining your own character.
Turned inward, this purification process is likely to manifest, first of all, as high personal standards of conduct and often much guilt and anxiety if you fail to do so. You will need to develop some humor and compassion for yourself, and a more merciful and tolerant attitude toward your own foibles and humanness to offset your innate propensity toward strict justice and judgment. Excessive self-doubt and self-criticism, an obsessive concern with self-improvement, extreme humility based on unrealistic perfectionism, fear of making mistakes or of being wrong, and an overly cautious attitude toward life can be common pitfalls on your path. You can overcome these patterns by finding an avenue of service to others to put your energies into, or a particular craft that you can continue to develop and perfect. The soul or character development that results from self-giving and self-discipline is an important part of what you are here to do.
Part of this ongoing inner process of purification can be achieved through devoted service to others, and through doing a good job for its own sake, rather than for the personal glory. Very often, you may be the invisible man or woman, in the supportive, assistant role, the power behind the throne, the worker bee rather than the queen. You may be quite comfortable being anonymous, for it is the quality of your work that really concerns you. You are happiest when you are being useful and productive, fulfilling a necessary function, being helpful in a tangible, concrete way.
Chapter 3: Rising Sign
The point that was on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth is called the ASCENDANT, or rising sign. While the Sun describes your conscious direction and current life focus, and the Moon your subconscious predisposition and past, the Ascendant indicates a way of being that transcends and embraces past, present, and future. It describes the way you engage and merge with the outer world and how you bring through into life the energies depicted by the Sun, the Moon, and the rest of your birth chart. Everything is filtered through the Ascendant from an esoteric point of view. It indicates your soul's function and thus a key part of your destiny.
Libra Rising:
Your soul function involves establishing balance, and harmony in your world, and an awareness of beauty, of relationship, of style, and how things fit or blend together. Reconciling opposites and finding "the middle way" is your path, and the fine arts of compromise, negotiations and cooperation are key elements. You are the dove, the diplomat, the peacemaker, the friend; partnership and personal relations are your forte.
Libra Rising and Venus in Libra:
Your ruling planet, Venus, is in Libra as well suggesting that you influence the world through your considerable personal charm, beauty, finesse, and refinement. You are agreeable, disarming ingratiating obliging - and may avoid direct confrontation, direct and passionate involvement, or "getting your hands dirty". For you, as for Oscar Wilde "In all important matters, style is number one". Your sense of beauty; proportion, elegance, composition, harmony, aesthetic vows, and taste are instinctual aspects of your soul-function.
Chapter 4: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel
Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master and overcome them. Yet it also points to the aspects of life which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them patiently.
Saturn in Taurus
Security and material well-being is apt to be inordinately important to you, and many of your struggles in life revolve around this. Regardless of what you actually possess, it may never seem like "enough" for you to feel secure. You have an underlying fear of poverty, lack, or that "it could all be taken away from me at anytime". Thus, you may become very territorial, frugal or acquisitive, not out of selfishness so much as out of fear. You yearn for lasting security, something you can count on at all times, and you will work hard to achieve that in some area of your life. When allowed to dominate your life choices, however, this deep need for security and a firm foundation in your life can inhibit you from taking any risks. Since change and unpredictability are in the very nature of life, the kind of insurance you seek really is not available! When does stability become stifling? When does a secure fortress become a self-imposed prison? Even if you are open and reasonable in many respects, there is at least one area of your life in which you are likely to be mindlessly stubborn, inflexible and unable to "flow".
In this lifetime you are defining your values. Since there is really nothing in this world that cannot be taken away, lost or destroyed, one of your most crucial lessons may be to "store up your treasure in heaven, where moths do not corrupt...".
On the other side of the coin you may have a basic mistrust of your body and of physical life in general. Placing too much or too little value on the body and the material side of life is indicated.
Saturn in 8th house:
You have a tendency to protectively withhold yourself and to not give your all. Thus you experience much frustration either sexually, financially, or both. The possibility of a merger (whether on a deep psychic, emotional level, or even in a material way) brings up some of your greatest fears. Sexual politics and issues of personal power and control (all involving an inability to surrender) are apt to be at work behind the scenes. Taking on a karmic debt through your partner or being burdened financially or otherwise by him or her is also possibility. Confronting your fears of giving everything, opening yourself completely and letting go come through these situations.
A fear of not being in control may well be the root of many of your protective, defensive, and ultimately self-defeating behavior which you play out in your intimate relationships. Also, a deep concern with death and mortality is evident. Learning to let go, to surrender with grace and ease, to die, based on a basic trust in life may be your greatest challenge.
Saturn is Retrograde:
All of the above is complicated by the fact that you carry a rather heavy burden of self-doubt, mistrust, or guilt over having let yourself and others down in your past, when you struggled (and failed) with these same issues. You now have the opportunity to correct your course, make amends and resolve a difficult karmic tangle, or a difficult state of mind.
Saturn Sesquiquadrate Uranus:
You carry tremendous inner tension which you will have to work to resolve and harmonize in order to have any peace in your life or any ongoing success in either your personal relationships or your life ambitions. You have what some would call a "disobedient spirit": habitual and chronic irritability and rebelliousness, a refusal to accept or cooperate with any kind of outward authority, and perhaps most troublesome of all, a tendency to blame others(the government, the system, your parents, your ex-) for your discontent. Because you tend to resent any kind of restrictions or limitations (including those imposed simply by living a "normal" orderly existence), you may periodically revolt, and any sort of stability, security, or seniority you may have acquired is badly damaged or destroyed. Or, your inner stress may be expressed in physical symptoms such as grinding your teeth, TMJ, headaches, or imbalances caused by disrupted rhythms. Your karmic pattern is to operate out of an extreme, polarized, all-or-nothing position. You may believe you must either conform and be an automaton or totally disregard convention, tradition, and the old order. On the other hand, you may identify entirely with the established orthodoxy and feel you must repress any impulses toward change or unconventionality, that it is somehow dangerous to experiment or deviate in any way. You may see-saw between these two extremes. Transitions tend to be especially difficult for you. You do not want to let go AND you want to sever your ties entirely. To begin harmonizing these patterns and healing your life, decide first of all to stop blaming others or the way the world is for your discomfort. Make friends with "the enemy", those parts of life you have been polarized against. On a physical level, regular, rhythmic exercise such as bicycling or swimming, and receiving massage therapy to release emotional and muscular tension can be helpful.
Chapter 5: The Hard Aspects
The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have brought into this life.
Mercury is Retrograde:
A prior lifetime in which you were discouraged to think, learn, or express your ideas is indicated. This may have carried over in this lifetime as a mild learning problem in childhood, or inner (somewhat unconscious) doubts about your ability to learn or to communicate. Thus, you have a habit of rechecking, reconsidering, reviewing, and rethinking everything before you put it out. You may even have a desire to learn about subjects that seem archaic, to learn about those things which were denied to you in the past.
Mercury Conjunct Pluto:
You have a penetrating, incisive mind which cuts through surface appearances to the deeper, underlying heart-of-the-matter. Your perceptions and profound insights border at times on being truly uncanny, for you have the gift of being able to perceive the hidden content, the concealed, disguised, or suppressed aspects of a person, situation, or subject. On a concrete level, this quality of mind impels you to be the researcher or investigator, searching out the unknown, uncovering a mystery. Even in casual social interaction you automatically perceive others' subconscious intentions and motives. You are very astute psychologically. Hence, your presence can be somewhat threatening to those who have secrets or who have much invested in the superficial and prefer not to go any deeper.
This capacity carries with it, however, challenges and pitfalls. You may find yourself falling into a habit of mind that is suspicious, paranoid, cynical, or preoccupied with the dark underside of life, and this may skew your entire outlook. (You may also use your considerable insight, persuasiveness, and mental power to try to manipulate others' thoughts and actions which would inevitably bring negative karmic results.) Verbally you can be quite cutting and hurtful. Realize that simply speaking "the truth" without mercy or sensitivity to how your words are received, can do more harm than good.
At its worst this aspect would be expressed in a Machiavellian type of mind, utilizing your keen perception to manipulate and dominate others.
Mars Square Neptune:
Your masculine, yang, assertive energies combine (somewhat tensely and uneasily) with your urge for transcendence, grandeur, and a life beyond the every day or material. This could be expressed through you in various ways. At best you are an inspired creative genius with the drive and need to physically manifest your dreams and visions. (This may, nevertheless, be hard on those around you or the part of you that wants a normal, orderly existence, as you tend to become fanatical and to ignore the more mundane stuff).
You may have a great deal of fantasy about and infatuation with masculinity, male power, which can lead to feelings of personal inadequacy, sexual confusion, an overidentification with macho strengths and values, muscles, competition, or simply an unclear relationship with men. You may idealize the man (father, husband, son) and fail to perceive them accurately. You tend to go to extremes, either denying all male attributes, functions or values, or secretly worshipping them.
You may also have great aspirations and far reaching ambitions which may or may not be practically realizable. However, for you, to live is to dream. Strive for complete honesty, with yourself as well as others, because the downside of this pattern is a tendency to evade or deceive or simply ignore what is. Also avoid the tendency to use either your physical strength or your sexual power and charisma in an exaggerated way. Misdirection of these energies can weaken your vitality considerably.
Ultimately you may be led to devote your strength and all your actions to something that transcends personal gratification and personal desire, becoming a channel for a higher power to work through.
Chapter 6: Soft Aspects
The following is a description of your GIFTS and STRENGTHS which can help you work with your major life challenges. These are abilities and qualities of heart, mind, and soul which are quite natural to you. You probably take them for granted. Because these represent the lines of least resistance for you, you may rely too much upon them at times; hence, there are some cautions suggested. Still, these are the areas where good flows into your life and/or where you have considerable inner resources.
Moon Sextile Mars:
A healthy, vigorous spirit to overcome obstacles, the capacity to initiate projects and act decisively, and a certain purposeful, direct way of dealing with life are gifts you have developed in the past and which you now may draw on at anytime. You have been a warrior and a leader, and were called upon to strike while the iron was hot, so that now you are quite capable of doing the same.
You are innately competitive, and are apt to have good instincts and timing regarding when to act and when to take risks. Courage, boldness, and physical prowess are also yours.
In addition, you know how to stir people's emotions and mobilize public sentiment, to get other people acting and moving upon the things you care the most about.
Mercury Trine Saturn:
Your gifts include a mind that is clear, objective, orderly, and disciplined. Mental concentration and focus come easily to you, enabling you to study deeply and thoroughly any subject of interest. You think systematically, and are patient and persistent in following a method. You readily grasp techniques, technical details and can assimilate a great deal of factual information and data. Learning from and about the past and through traditional methods are other aspects of your mental patterning. Your knowledge of how the world works is very concrete, and you are comfortable with realistic terms.
The only potential trouble here is that you can become too stagnant or unable to get out of a "mental groove". Clear quartz crystals and/or sapphires are beneficial for you to wear or carry.
Mercury Sextile Neptune:
An innate understanding of spiritual and metaphysical principles, and a direct perception of the inner world (via intuition, clairvoyance or clairaudience, etc.) enables you to speak of or teach others these subjects. Your conscious mind links easily and readily to other dimensions. This is something you probably take for granted and it may happen without any conscious effort or intent on your part. You are like a "cosmic radio" and you may pick up certain vibrations and the feelings of others without realizing you are doing so. You also have a sensitive nervous system which responds quickly to stimuli, so you require a harmonious atmosphere in order to function at your best.
Your psychic and/or musical, artistic, and poetic sensibilities are pronounced due to prior development in these arenas.
Venus Sextile Mars:
Actively creating harmony and beauty through your work, art, or with people is part of what you are here to do. You have developed a harmonious coordination between the masculine and feminine energies within yourself; thus, you combine strength with grace, power with elegance, decisiveness and effort with pleasure, passion with tenderness and sensitivity. You have a romantic soul.
Some positive expressions of this pattern might include athletic activities that have an aesthetic appeal, such as figure skating, or artistic endeavors that are active, such as performing dance or opera singing.
Actively bringing people together in some way, for mutual pleasure and benefits, is also one of your gifts.
Venus Conjunct Jupiter:
In your incarnational past you have enjoyed ease and wealth, and have thus developed a taste for "the finer things", and a certain level of comfort and material well-being. You expect to be well provided for, and will attract prosperity quite easily. However, you may also take much for granted or be disinclined to put yourself out very much. If you can avoid the "spoiled prince" or "spoiled princess" attitude, your more golden qualities will help you create a satisfying life for yourself. These personal attributes include generosity, friendliness, givingness, tolerance, and the ability to make others feel comfortable, accepted, and good about themselves. Humor and a light touch are also among your gifts.
An appreciation for beauty and culture is well developed in you also; and you could be a sponsor and supporter of the arts in your community.
Mars Sextile Jupiter:
You have developed the capacity to direct your masculine/active, yang energies in healthy and positive ways. Thus, you have confidence in your "masculine" strengths and abilities. Ennobled by ideals of fair play and concern for the broader social implications of your choices, your actions are most often fortunate, leading to success and increased opportunities. A gift for leadership and inspiring others is also yours. Physical playfulness is an important way you can re-create and rejuvenate yourself.
Neptune Sextile Pluto:
Collectively, this is a time in history that enables you and those of your generation to advance spiritually through a heightened awareness of the invisible and intangible realms. A rebirth of spirituality through direct contact with higher forces is occurring in this generation. This contact takes many, many forms, including a compelling interest in life beyond death. You may or may not have a personal involvement with this, as it is a group karma rather than a primarily personal one.
